The collections, received by the State in 1975, after the death of the artist, are on display in this superb private hotel built in the seventeenth century in the Marais.
Completed due to a second instalment, the museum holds about 200 paintings, sculptures and collages. In addition to works by Picasso, the visitor can also admire personal acquisions made by the artist himself such as works by Braque, Rousseau, Miro and Renoir.
The chronologically organised visit begins with a self portrait of the artist painted in 1901 and ends with Le vieil homme assis ( Old man sitting down) painted in 1971. Whilst visiting the museum you will discover information about the birth of Cubism with Desmoiselles dAvignon as well as interior design projects and suits belonging to the Father of Modern Painting .
