Description
At the heart of the Latin quarter, can be found the National Museum of the Middle Ages and the Cluny Thermal Baths which allow the visitor to travel through ancient Gallo-Rome up to and including the Middle Ages. This is due to the great diversity and richness of these collections. Founded in 1843, it regrouped the remains of Gallo-Roman thermal baths from Lutetia providing a superbly preserved frigidarium. There is also the Gothic hotel once belonging to the Cluny Abbots which was built at the end of the xv century by Jacques d’Ambroise.

The collections offer a wide view of artistic activity in the Middle Ages and pay witness to the artistic and intellectual richness of this era. The sculpture here is particularluy well presented( the statue of Saint –Denis, Notre Dame)

You can discover such master pieces as that of the legendary tapestry known as « lady and the unicorn ».
